Hockey in Chattanooga

I have always thought that Chattanooga should have some form of hockey. Whether it be juniors, or pro, however I have always thought that given the proximity to other SPHL clubs they would be a great fit for the SPHL.

I saw this article today that seems to echo my thoughts. And by reading some of the comments after the article, it seems as though a lot of people in Chattanooga drive to Knoxville for thier hockey.

He's spot-on--I think the lack of a suitable building is the only reason Chattanooga has never had a team...

I definately agree with you. I think Chattanooga would be perfect for an SPHL franchise if they had a suitable arena. The only thing I see, is if there were enough people who wanted a team in Chattanooga, I would think they would be petitioning the city to build an arena. Idk if that is happening though

They have utc arena,but no ice by capacity that would be the place to do it at..also, as a matter of fact ex- UHL comissioner Richard Brosal had a plan in line for a team in chattanooga to counter winston-salem,knoxville,and ashville in the early 2000s but it fell though.theyalso almost put a team in bristol tennessee.
