Anchorage, AK - The Alaska Aces have signed 2008 ECHL All-Star defenseman Bryan Miller to a one-year contract for the 2008-09 season.
The 25-year-old Miller seemed poised for a career year in 2007-08, having already accumulated 18 points (5g-13a) in 24 games and earned a starting position on the National Conference all-star team before suffering a season-ending shoulder injury in a 4-3 win at Victoria December 19.
The New Jersey native played an instrumental role in two remarkable Alaska comebacks last season, scoring the game-winner in overtime to beat Idaho 4-3 November 9 in a game the Aces had trailed 3-0, and registering his first career hat trick, including the game-winning goal, to upend Fresno 7-5 November 16, a contest in which Alaska faced a 5-1 deficit entering the third period.
Miller led all Trenton defensemen in goals and ranked second in points in 2007 despite playing only 53 games. In four years at Boston University, he led all Terrier blueliners in scoring twice and finished his collegiate career with 88 points (20g-68a) in 153 games.
