Anchorage, AK - The Alaska Aces have signed brothers and right wingers Colin and Brett Hemingway for the 2008-09 season.

Colin Hemingway, who will turn 28 next month, led the Edinburgh Capitals (based in Scotland) in scoring last year, piling up 82 points on 41 goals and 41 assists in the highest league in Britain. Originally an eighth-round pick of the St. Louis Blues in 1999, Colin's first stint in Alaska came in March 2006 and included a goal and an assist in a 4-1 victory over Idaho. Prior to joining the Aces, he had appeared in three games for St. Louis. In four years as a collegian at the University of New Hampshire, Hemingway led the Wildcats to a pair of Frozen Fours in 2002 and in 2003, when as a senior, Colin and UNH fell to Minnesota in the national championship game. After scoring 12 goals and 22 assists in his first two years at UNH, Hemingway registered 55 goals and 58 assists over his final two seasons, including a 66-point campaign (33g-33a) in 2001-02.

Brett Hemingway, younger by three years and an inch taller than his brother at 6-1, was acquired by the Aces from Reading (where he was named to the American Conference all-star team and had a goal and two assists against the Nationals) last February in exchange for defenseman Dave Pszenczny and paid immediate dividends, scoring the game-winner against Stockton with 2:26 remaining in his debut and finishing with 11 goals and 15 assists over Alaska's final 25 games to spark a playoff run that saw the Aces come within two wins of their fourth straight division title. Brett, originally a seventh-round draft choice of Colorado in 2003 and also a UNH product, earned ECHL Player of the Week honors for March 3-9 and had a goal and an assist in a 6-4 win over Idaho in Game 2 of Alaska's four-game sweep of the defending Kelly Cup champions.
