Amarillo, TX - The Amarillo Gorillas announced their final roster for 2008 training camp on Monday.
The roster includes the additions of forwards Martin Ravn and Drew Power, as well as defensemen Nick Theriault and Yan Ouimet.
Ravn
(pronounced RAH-vin) played in the Danish Elite League last season with
Frederikshavn, scoring seven points in 36 games. Power, meanwhile,
played in the Canadian Southern Hockey League during 2007-08, leading the Blacks Harbour Silverkings in scoring with 61 points in just 24 contests.
Yan
Ouimet played with the Quebec Ramparts as a
junior, winning a Memorial Cup in 2005-06. He last played in the LNAH
with the Quebec RadioX. Theriault played two
full seasons with the Jackson Bandits of the ECHL from 2001-2003, and
played collegiate hockey at St. Thomas University in New Brunswick from
2003-2007.
"Ouimet winning a Memorial Cup is
huge...that's a big accomplishment for any player," said Gorillas Head
Coach Tom Coolen. "Theriault is a big (6'4", 225 pounds), tough
defenseman that works hard. We're looking forward to seeing him in Amarillo, taking on the rest of the Central Hockey League."
Theriault
racked up over 230 penalty minutes in just 111 games with the Bandits.
In juniors, he amassed 353 penalty minutes in 46 games for the
Miramichi Timberwolves.
