Amarillo, TX - Gordon Bell, acquired earlier this week by the Gorillas from Oklahoma City, has officially signed with Amarillo for the 2008-09 season.

The veteran of two Central Hockey League seasons with the Blazers will make the move to Amarillo, joining Brian Bicek, Simon Nielsen, and John Hooks as signees under Head Coach Tom Coolen

"Gordon has been described to me as a feisty player that has good speed...he's shown he can be a good player in the league," said Coolen of Bell. "He has an intense, competitive spirit that he will bring along with him to Amarillo. Gordon will be a plus to our team this year for sure."

Bell, 28, attended St. Mary's University in Halifax, Nova Scotia during his final two years of collegiate competition. In two seasons with the Huskies, the 5'11", 185-pound center scored 29 points in 56 games.

During Bell's two years with Oklahoma City, he played in 91 games, scoring 19 goals and picking up 62 points. Last season, he recorded a new career high in penalty minutes with 89. On three occasions during 2007-08, Bell put together four-game point scoring streaks versus CHL opposition.

The Westlock, Alberta native is the first player under contract with the Gorillas to have CHL playoff experience. He dressed for 14 games during the Blazers' playoff run in 2006-07, netting three goals and four points.
