Prescott Valley, AZ - The 2008 Central Hockey League Ray Miron President's Cup Champion Arizona Sundogs, in conjunction with the Phoenix Coyotes of the National Hockey League, today announced the two clubs have renewed their affiliation agreement for the 2008-09 season.
"Since
our Club was established prior to the 2006-07 season, a significant
amount of focus has been directed to the development of players and
their careers, and having a NHL
affiliation plays a vital role in that process," said Arizona Sundogs
Head Coach and General Manager Marco Pietroniro. "We had a tremendous
amount of success in working with the Phoenix Coyotes organization
during the 2007-08 season and we're pleased to once again secure an
affiliation with a club that shares in our commitment to the
development of younger players."
As was the case during the 2007-08 season, the Arizona Sundogs will
serve as the Phoenix Coyotes sole double-A affiliate in 2008-09. The
Sundogs have secured NHL affiliations in each of their three seasons.
During the 2006-07 season, the Sundogs served as the double-A affiliate
to the NHL's Colorado Avalanche.
"We are excited to continue our partnership with the Arizona Sundogs,"
said Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney. "They enjoyed a
tremendously successful season last year in capturing the Ray Miron
President's Cup. We look forward to seeing them defend their title in
the upcoming year."
