Prescott Valley, AZ - The 2008 Central Hockey League Ray Miron President's Cup Champion Arizona Sundogs today announced that former CHL Vice President of Communications Steve Cherwonak has been named President. Cherwonak becomes the third President in the three-year history of the franchise.

"I consider myself fortunate to join an organization that despite a relatively brief history has established itself as one of the premier organizations in all of minor league sports," said Cherwonak. "I look forward to helping enhance the already high standards of operational excellence already in place, and wish to thank owners Eric Lacroix and Shawn Fowler for the opportunity to join such a talented and committed team of professionals."

Cherwonak comes to the Arizona Sundogs after 11 seasons with both the Western Professional and Central Hockey Leagues. Most recently, the Vancouver, British Columbia, native served as General Manager of the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs during the 2007-08 season.

"It is always tough to say goodbye to a person and friend the character of Brent Thiessen, but I'm confident that we have found the right person to replace him in Steve Cherwonak," said Co-Owner Eric Lacroix. "We've established a high standard of success during our time in the CHL and we know that Steve has the background and ability to meet or exceed those expectations."

During his time with the CHL, Cherwonak directed the league's media efforts, maintained the league website, assembled the league schedule and designed the league's guide and record book among other duties.

Cherwonak will be in town through Friday before returning to Louisiana to complete his move back to Arizona.
