Augusta, GA - The Augusta Lynx have signed forward Matt Hartman, Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations John Marks announced today.

"Matt's the kind of hard-nosed, gritty, tireless player that every team needs in the lineup," Marks said. "He's been heavily recruited this offseason, and I'm thrilled he's decided to come to Augusta. My promise to the fans when I was hired was to bring a hardworking team that competes every night, and Matt can help lay that foundation."

Hartman, a 24-year-old native of St. Cloud, Minn., spent the last four years playing for the St. Cloud State Huskies of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association. In 150 career games from 2004-05 through 2007-08, the 6-foot-1, 195-pounder had 57 points (27 goals, 30 assists) and 90 penalty minutes with his hometown university.

Prior to attending college, Hartman had 84 points (36 goals, 48 assists) and 165 penalty minutes in 120 career regular-season games with the Sioux City Musketeers of the United States Hockey League from 2001-02 through 2003-04. Hartman also had four points (one goal, three assists) and 28 penalty minutes in 18 career USHL playoff games, and helped the Musketeers capture the Clark Cup in 2002.
