Bakersfield, CA - The Bakersfield Condors, official ECHL affiliate of the Anaheim Ducks, announced today that D Mark Mitera was assigned to the team by the Ducks from San Antonio of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Mitera, 22, played in five games with San Antonio this season, recording no points. The 6-3, 215-pound, Royal Oak, Michigan, native, also played in five games with Iowa (AHL) last season, recording two assists, both coming in his first professional game.

Drafted in the first round (19th overall) by the Ducks in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, Mitera captained the University of Michigan in his senior year last season, cut short by a torn ACL. In 2007-08, Mitera served as alternate captain of Michigan, leading all Wolverines defensemen in scoring with 23 points (2g-21a). That season, he was named to the CCHA Second All-StarTeam and the NCAA East Regional All-Tournament Team. He also helped Michigan to a CCHA Championship Title.

Mitera has also appeared on the international stage, representing the United States at the 2006 World Junior Championships in Vancouver.
