Bakersfield, CA - The Bakersfield Condors, official ECHL affiliate of the Anaheim Ducks, have announced that the Ducks have re-assigned RW Dan Sexton to the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League (AHL). The ECHL also announced today that Sexton has been named the Sher-wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for Nov. 16-22.
Sexton, 22, has played in 18 games with the Condors this season and leads the team in goals (13), assists (13), points (26), game-winning goals (3) and shorthanded goals (2). He ranks second in the league in goals, tied for ninth in assists and fourth in points. He is the rookie leader in goals and second in assists and points. Sexton has recorded two or more points in 10 of the games he's played.
A native of Apple Valley, MN, Sexton helped lead the Condors to a 4-0-0 week, registering nine points (5g-4a) and earning the First Star of the Game honors in all three games over the weekend against the Alaska Aces on home ice. On Friday, Sexton earned three assists in Bakersfield's 6-2 win over the Aces. Sexton then scored three goals en route to the Condors 7-4 win on Saturday versus the Aces. On Sunday, Sexton helped complete the weekend sweep against Alaska with two goals and one assist in a 4-2 victory. The Condors improved to 12-6-0-0 on the season and lead the Pacific Division by six points. This is the fourth time Sexton has been nominated for Player of the Week.
Sexton, undrafted, signed a contract with the Anaheim Ducks last summer after playing two seasons with Bowling Green State University, where he led the team in points his final season with 39 (17g-22a) in 38 games. Sexton participated in Anaheim's Training Camp this season before being re-assigned to San Antonio of the AHL, where he did not play a game. Sexton was then re-assigned by Anaheim to the Condors on Oct. 15.
