Binghamton, NY - The Ottawa Senators today re-assigned forward Zack Smith to the club's American Hockey League affiliate, the Binghamton Senators.

Smith was recalled for the second time in his career on Jan. 8 and scored his first NHL goal (and recorded his first NHL point) in Ottawa's 4-2 win at Montreal on Jan. 16. The goal marked only the third time in Senators franchise history that a player's first NHL tally with the club occurred while the team was shorthanded. In eight games with the Senators this season, Smith has recorded two points (two goals) and nine penalty minutes while averaging 9:37 time-on-ice per game.

The 21-year-old has scored six goals and added 10 assists in 34 games with the B-Sens this season. Now in his second professional campaign, Smith has played 103 career AHL regular-season games (all with Binghamton), recording 30 goals, 34 assists and 204 penalty minutes. He has only missed six career AHL games, all due to NHL recall.

A co-winner of the B-Sens' 2008-09 rookie-of-the-year award, Smith was Ottawa's third-round selection (79th overall) in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
