Binghamton, NY - The Binghamton Senators announced today that Grady Whittenburg has been named the new director of broadcasting for the American Hockey League franchise. Whittenburg returns to the B-Sens after spending the 2007-08 season with the ECHL's Elmira Jackals.

"The organization is happy to welcome Grady back this season," said Tom Mitchell, the Senators executive vice president of operations. "Grady was here in 2002 when the franchise was born, so it's great to have one of our founding staff members come home."

Whittenburg enters his nineteenth season behind the microphone this fall when the B-Sens open the 2008-09 regular season in Toronto on Saturday, Oct. 11. He spent 12 years (1990-02) as the voice of Cornell Big Red hockey prior to joining B-Sens for their inaugural season in 2002-03.

Whittenburg replaces Marc Shelanski behind the microphone, who has taken a corporate partnerships position with the B-Sens. In addition to his sales duties, Shelanski will also host a pre-game radio program this season.
