Bloomington, IL - Bloomington PrairieThunder coach Jarrod Skalde announced the signings Monday of winger Blake Stewart and defenseman Shaun Fisher. Both finished the International Hockey League season with the PrairieThunder last year.
Stewart played in 28 games after signing with the team in February, while Fisher was claimed off waivers and played in Bloomington's final four games after being released by Flint.
The 29-year-old Fisher has played in 417 games during his seven-year career, scoring 37 goals with 155 assists for 192 points.
The bulk of Fisher's playing time has been in the ECHL where he saw action in 225 games between stops in Florida, Greenville, Trenton, Texas, Roanoke, Augusta, Phoenix and Bakersfield.
Fisher, who began his career in Florida in 2001, scored 18 goals with 69 assists for 87 points during his time in the ECHL. He played with Kalamazoo in the United Hockey League in 2004-05 before playing in Flint the last two seasons in the UHL and IHL.
The Detroit native played 188 games between Kalamazoo and Flint, scoring 19 goals with 83 assists for 102 points. He had three assists for the PrairieThunder in four games.
The 5-foot-11, 170-pound left-hander has been on a playoff team in five of his seven years at the professional level, scoring three goals with 16 assists for 19 points in 35 games.
The 24-year-old Stewart scored seven goals with 10 assists for 17 points after joining the PrairieThunder. He had one game-winning goal, one short-handed goal, one power-play goal and one short-handed assist.
Stewart enters his fifth season at the professional level where he has played 188 games, scoring 34 goals with 33 assists for 67 points. Until last season when he played with the PrairieThunder, Stewart had spent his career in the UHL. He played at Rockford, Fort Wayne, Adirondack, Port Huron, Missouri and the Quad Cities.
The 6-foot, 170-pound Roselle (Ill.) native made his professional debut with Rockford in the 2004-05 campaign. Per team policy, terms of the contracts were not released.
