Bridgeport, CT - The Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the New York Islanders, have announced the appointment of Mike Schroeder as the team's new Athletic Trainer. Schroeder brings a wide array of athletic training experience to the Sound Tigers.
Schroeder comes to Bridgeport after spending last season as the Athletic Trainer for the Muskegon Lumberjacks of the International Hockey League. Prior to joining Muskegon, Schroeder served as a graduate assistant at Michigan State for two years. During his tenure in East Lansing, he served as the head athletic trainer for the Spartans wrestling team and the assistant athletic trainer for the MSU football team. During his time at Michigan State Schroeder also worked as an athletic training intern for the NFL's Seattle Seahawks and New York Giants.
Schroeder graduated from Purdue University in 2005 with a degree in Athletic Training. He earned his Masters of Science in Kenesiology from Michigan State in 2008.
"Mike brings a great deal of experience in athletic training with him as he joins the Sound Tigers," team President Howard Saffan said. "We are delighted to welcome him aboard."
