Charlotte, NC - The Charlotte Checkers are pleased to announce a new affiliation agreement with Sports Radio WFNZ 610 and 1660 AM to broadcast Checkers road games during the 2008-09 season.

Sports Radio 610AM WFNZ was born August 18, 1997 and since then, they have grown into Charlotte's sports leader. WFNZ is a 5000 watt directional signal covering Mecklenburg County and its environs.

"We are absolutely thrilled to be partnering with the city's best sports station in WFNZ," said Checkers director of broadcasting Jason Shaya. "Checkers fans can continue to follow the team's progress when they can't attend road games by listening to a crystal clear signal. The timing was perfect to get the Checkers back on radio and we look forward to a long term relationship with WFNZ."

"Sports Radio 610AM WFNZ is really thrilled to have the Charlotte Checkers back on our airwaves and for WFNZ to be the official broadcast home of the Charlotte Checkers for the 2008-09 season," said DJ Stout, operations manager/program director for 103.7 WSOC, Sports Radio 610AM WFNZ and 1660AM WFNA. "The Charlotte Checkers put a very exciting product on the ice and we look forward to broadcasting their road games for our listeners and Checkers fans to enjoy."
