Charlotte, NC - General manager and head coach of the Charlotte Checkers, Derek Wilkinson, announced today that forward Jeff Kyrzakos has agreed to terms and will return for a second season with the team.

Kyrzakos, 6-foot-2, 195 pounds, is a Mississauga, Ontario native. He played two seasons in the Ontario Hockey League with the Owen Sound Attack before beginning his professional career with the Phoenix Roadrunners during the 2006-2007 season. Kyrzakos totaled 22 goals and 23 assists for 45 points in 99 games with the Roadrunners. On January 16, Kyrzakos was traded to the Checkers in exchange for forward Nathan Gillies. After being traded, he amassed 10 goals and 18 assists for 28 points in 39 games for Charlotte.

"I was impressed with the city of Charlotte and the Checkers organization and I really look forward to returning," said Kyrzakos. "I have great expectations for myself and unlike last year, I hope to remain healthy for the duration of the season."
