Columbus, GA - The Columbus Cottonmouths announced today that fan favorite Orrin Hergott and defenseman Jason Schulz have re-signed with the Snakes for the 2008-09 season.

Hergott came to the Snakes in 2004, registering 57 points in his rookie season to help guide the team to the President's Cup league championship. Aside from a short stint with the South Carolina Stingrays of the ECHL that season, Hergott has spent the past four seasons as a Cottonmouth, picking up 187 points in 200 games. This will be his fifth professional season.

"Orrin has been nothing but exciting for us and the league over the past four years," head coach Jerome Bechard said. "He has the ability to break open a game at any time and, combining that with his leadership qualities, I cannot say how excited I am in getting him back."

Schulz came to the Snakes as a late-season addition in 2007-08. After playing a game with the New Mexico Scorpions of the CHL, he joined the Snakes for their 16 remaining regular season games and the playoffs. In those 21 games, he picked up seven points.

"Jason Schulz came in late last year with no experience at all and performed great for us," Bechard said. "I anticipate he'll be a lot better starting at this level. He's a defenseman who finishes all his checks and has great timing in stepping up at the blue lines. I'm looking forward to Jason becoming a fan favorite here in Columbus."
