Dayton, OH - The Dayton Gems, proud members of the International Hockey League, announced the signing of forward Mike Olynyk to a contract.
Olynyk played last season with the Muskegon Lumberjacks of the IHL (joining them for the playoffs) and the Basingstoke Bison of the EIHL with a combined 27 games scoring 6 goals and 3 assists for a total of 9 points and 126 penalty minutes.
A native of Sparwood, British Columbia the 6 foot, 197 plays forward and shoots right. He began his career in this league back in the 2005 -06 season with the Quad City Mallards and also spent time with Port Huron.
