The Jackals will serve as Ottawa's secondary affiliate and will be the primary affiliate of the Binghamton Senators.
General Manager Robbie S. Nichols and Director of Hockey Operations/Head Coach Steve Martinson are delighted with the upcoming player development contract with NHL Ottawa and AHL Binghamton. “Working with Ottawa-Binghamton gives our players plenty of opportunity. Martinson quotes, “(Binghamton Head Coach) Cory Clouston watched a half a dozen of our games last year and has been very hands on in assuring that there are players in Elmira that he wants to play for him.” General Manager Robbie S. Nichols had this to say about the affiliation; “With the direct affiliation we are here to help as much as possible to groom some of the younger players and get them ready for the next level. The Ottawa Senators and the Binghamton Senators are both great organizations and we are proud to be in their family.”
“The Senators organization is excited to establish a formal relationship with Elmira,” said Brent Flahr, the Senators' director of hockey operations. “This agreement enables our organization the flexibility to move players between the ECHL and the AHL, which we feel will enable us to promote the development of the prospects in our system.”
