EPHL Names Binda Supervisor of Officials
Eastern Professional Hockey League

The Eastern Professional Hockey League is pleased to welcome Eugene Binda as the EPHL Supervisor of Officials for the upcoming 2008-2009 inaugural season.

Mr. Binda will be responsible for the coordination of officials for the Eastern Professional Hockey League which includes the assignment of officials, continuous improvement of officiating, and acting as a liaison between coaches, officials, and the league.

 

Binda has also acted as a referee for the East Coast League, ECAC at the Division-II and Division-III level since 1988, and has served as a linesman for Atlantic Hockey and Hockey East.

As a coordinator, Binda holds the title of Referee-in-Chief of the Eastern Junior Hockey League (EJHL), and the Empire Junior Hockey League. Binda has also worked seminars in referee development for Massachusetts Hockey.

An employee of the Boston Globe for 31 years as pressmen journeymen, Binda also spends time as an educator for the Graphic Communication Conference of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, traveling to different sites all over the country. Binda received a bachelor's degree in labor studies from UMass Boston in 1998, and a Master's from UMass Amherst in 2002 in the Union Leadership Program.

He and his wife Debby reside in Weymouth, Massachusetts. They have two children, son Eugene Jr., 26, and daughter Dorina, 23.

Mr. Binda will be conducting an officials camp in Massachusetts at the end of August which will include the referees and linesmen who will be assigned to work Eastern Professional Hockey League games this coming season.
