Fayetteville, NC - The Fayetteville FireAntz of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) announced today that the club has signed defenseman Craig Geerlinks. Per club policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Geerlinks, a 6'1, 205-pound defenseman from St. Thomas, Ontario was obtained via dispersal draft from the now-defunct Jacksonville Barracudas. Last season he split time between the Barracudas and the Knoxville Ice Bears. In 49 games played he netted three goals, 19 assists, 22 points and 82 penalty minutes. He was also a key contributor in the Barracudas' run to the President's Cup finals tallying seven points, on one goal and six assists, in eight playoff games.
"Craig is one of the most hard-nosed, defensive-defensemen in the league." Head Coach Tommy Stewart said, "He is a tremendous leader both on and off the ice. Craig will be a great addition to our defense corps."
