Fayetteville, NC - The Fayetteville FireAntz of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) announced today that Head Coach Tommy Stewart has been re-signed for the 2008-09 campaign, with a mutual option for a second year. Per club policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Stewart, 33, re-joins the FireAntz after a successful first season with the team. The FireAntz finished in 3rd place in the regular season and advanced to the semi-finals of the President's Cup Playoffs. Additionally, Stewart has led his clubs to three finals appearances and was named Coach of the Year in 2003-04 while with Macon of the WHA2.

"I'm thrilled that Tommy will be coming back for the upcoming season." General Manager Kevin MacNaught said, "We were one win away from making another appearance in the finals last season. With Tommy and the core group of guys from last year's club I believe that will give us a great opportunity to make another run at winning a championship."
