Fayetteville, NC - The Fayetteville FireAntz of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) announced today that the club has re-signed goaltender Chad Collins. He becomes the second player under contract for the upcoming season, joining forward Marc Norrington. Per club policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Collins, a 5'8'', 165-pound goaltender from Guelph, Ontario re-joins the FireAntz for his fifth season with the club. Last season, Collins was 16-11-5 with a 3.40 goals-against-average (GAA) and a .901 save percentage in the regular season. He also led the FireAntz to the President's Cup semi-finals posting a 3-2 record with a 2.73 GAA and a .934 save percentage in the playoffs.
Collins also brings with him plenty of SPHL hardware. He has won Rookie of the Year (2004-05), Goaltender of the Year (2004-05), President's Cup Playoffs Most Valuable Player (2006-07) as well as SPHL Player of the Week and Player of the Month awards. He is also the winningest goaltender in club history with 76 regular season victories.
