Generals Add Three Rookies to Roster

Flint, MI - The Flint Generals of the International Hockey League announced today that three rookies have been added to the roster for the 2008-09 season. The Generals have signed goaltender Jordan Alford, defenseman Joshua Fauth and Center Matt Isbister.

Alford spent the past four years with RPI, the Rensselaer Engineers, a division one ECAC school. In 51 games for the Engineers, the 6-2, 180 puck stopper had a 16-23-4 mark with a goals against average of just over four per game. He won his first career collegiate game against UConn in 2004 and was chosen ECAC rookie of the week in that same year. The Red Deer, Alberta native posted his first career shutout against Robert Morris in 2004, was chosen as ECAC Goaltender of the Week in 2006, made the ECAC Weekly Honor Roll in 2007 and was chosen as a member of the Governors Cup All Tournament Team and Most Outstanding Player also in 2007.

"I've heard great things about this young man, and after speaking with him I really like the confidence and determination he will bring," said Head Coach Peter South.

Center Matt Isbister spent the past season with the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds (CIS Canadian University Hockey, where in 12 games he had one goal and five assists for six points. In 2006-2007, Isbister, native of Calgary, Alberta Canada, played 71 games in the Western Hockey League for the Moose Jaw Warriors and the Calgary Hitmen where he had 16 goals and 17 assists for 33 points and 54 penalty minutes. Once the season had concluded, the 6-1, 195 pound defenseman played three games for the Dayton Bombers of the ECHL where he netted one goal in three games.

"Matt is another former WHL player who is known for his playmaking skills and his ability to compete in a tough, physical environment," said South. Joshua Fauth spent the 2007-08 season also in CIS with the University of Regina.

In 27 games, the Medicine Hat, Alberta native had no points but 16 penalty minutes in 27 games. The 6-4, 232 pound defender played for the Regina Pats and the Kootenay Ice of the Western Hockey League during the 2005-06 season. He had five points and 134 penalty minutes in 67 games. Fauth had spent two previous seasons with the Ice and in 76 games notched two points and 115 penalty minutes.

"Josh brings us more size and strength on the blueline," said South. "He is a solid defensive defenseman who has exhibited a nasty side during his junior career."

The addition of Alford, Fauth and Isbister to the roster brings the Generals' signings to 12 for the 2008-09 season.
