Estero, FL - Florida Everblades president & general manager Craig Brush, along with head coach Malcolm Cameron announced today that the team has signed forward David Nimmo to a contract for the 2008-09 season.

Nimmo joins the Everblades after earning Central Hockey League Rookie of the Year honors in 2007-08 by posting 84 points (41g, 43a) and 67 penalty minutes in 64 games with the Amarillo Gorillas. His pro debut saw the St. Albert, Alberta native lead the team in goals, finish second on the club in assists and finish tied for the team lead in points.

League wide Nimmo, who will turn 26 on July 25, finished tied for seventh in scoring, while his goal total was tied for third highest among all CHL players. In addition to his Rookie of the Year honor, Nimmo was also selected to the CHL's post-season All-Rookie Team and was a member of the Southern Conference's mid-season All-Star squad.

"David is a big, strong kid who had an incredible year last season as a rookie." Cameron said. "His goal and point totals are a real testament to his skill level, and we're really looking forward to having him on the ice at Germain Arena in an Everblades jersey where we hope he'll capture the same season he had last year."

Nimmo also received accolades in 2007-08 by being named the CHL's Player of the Month in December after posting 20 points in 13 games. Prior to turning pro the 6-foot-2, 220 pound centerman spent four seasons at the collegiate level with the University of Alabama-Huntsville. His best season came during his senior season in 2006-07 when he led the Chargers in scoring by notching career-high numbers in goals (14) assists (22) and points (36) in 36 games. Overall during his college career Nimmo registered 63 points (25g, 38a) and 110 PIM in 116 games.
