Estero, FL - Florida Everblades president and general manager Craig Brush along with head coach Malcolm Cameron announced today that forward Jarret Lukin has signed a contract for the 2008-09 season, making him the second player signed by the Everblades for the upcoming season.

Lukin (LOU-kin) returns for his third season with the Everblades after posting 30 points (10g, 20a) in 72 regular season games and skating in all three Everblades Kelly Cup Playoff games last year. The 24-year-old saw his best stretch of last season come in February when he tallied nine points (4g, 5a) in 13 games.

Lukin's made his professional debut with the Everblades in January of the 2006-07 season, and finished the regular season with 18 points (6g, 12a) in 26 games, and chipped in four assists in 13 Kelly Cup playoff games. Lukin tallied his first professional goal in his third pro game on February 3 at Augusta, and put together his best scoring stretch from March 6-18 when he tallied points in seven of eight games.

"Jarret continued to be a strong asset to our club last year." Brush said. "His work ethic is second to none and we will look to have that attitude rub off on the other players on this club."

Prior to signing with the Everblades in 2006-07, Lukin skated with the University of Calgary, where he tallied 20 points (5g, 15a) in 16 games. The Fort McMurray, Alberta native began his collegiate career in 2005-06, scoring 39 points (9g, 30a) in 39 games while earning CIS All-Rookie honors.

Before playing at the collegiate level, the 5-foot-11, 185 pound center spent five seasons (2000-2004) at the junior level in the Western Hockey League. Lukin played in 312 total games in the WHL, scoring 86 goals and adding 126 assists while skating with Kamloops and Medicine Hat. Lukin's best season came in 2002-03 when he finished second on Kamloops with 74 points (32g, 42a) in 65 games.
