Duluth, GA - The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that they have signed defenseman Scott Marchesi for the 2008-09 season. Marchesi returns to Gwinnett for his first full professional season.
The South Portland, Maine native returns to the Gladiators after appearing in 9 games for Gwinnett last season after completing his final collegiate season at Sacred Heart University. Marchesi also appeared in all 8 of the Gladiators 2008 Kelly Cup Playoff games where he collected a goal and an assist for 2 points and 6 penalty minutes.
During the 2007-08 season at Sacred Heart University, Marchesi played in 38 games tallying 2 goals and 9 assists for 11 points while compiling a +5 plus/minus rating and 62 penalty minutes. Marchesi also helped lead the Pioneers to the Atlantic Hockey Association's Final Five. The 6-foot-2-inch defensemen also finished third among Pioneer defensemen in scoring during the 2007-08 season before joining the Gladiators.
In his four seasons with the Pioneers, Marchesi, played in 138 career collegiate games tallying 51 points on 14 goals and 37 assists. He also compiled 202 total penalty minutes.
