Hamilton - Montreal Canadiens General Manager Bob Gainey announced today that the club has assigned defenceman Alex Henry to the Hamilton Bulldogs.
Henry, 28, played in three pre-season games
with Montreal and accumulated 19 penalty minutes. Prior to being signed
by the Canadiens as a free agent on July 3, 2008, Henry was part of the
Nashville Predators organization. In 2007-2008, the Elliot Lake,
Ontario native, played in all 80 of the Milwaukee Admirals regular
season games posting 16 points (three goals, 16 assists) with 142
penalty minutes. The Edmonton Oilers 3rd round, 67th overall, selection
in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft, also competed in six post-season games recording one assist along with 10 penalty minutes.
The
6-foot-5, 220-pound blueliner returns to the 'Dogs for the first time
since the 2001-2002 campaign. Henry played three seasons with Hamilton
from 1999 until 2002 where he registered a total of 18 points (seven
goals, 18 assists) along with 299 penalty minutes in 185 regular season
games with the Bulldogs.
