Hartford, CT - Hartford Wolf Pack general manager Jim Schoenfeld announced today that the Wolf Pack has signed forward David Skokan to an American Hockey League contract.
Skokan, 19, was a seventh-round (193rd overall) selection of the parent New York Rangers in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. Born in Poprad, Slovakia, he played the last three seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with the Rimouski Oceanic. In 2007-08 action, the 6-0, 191-pounder finished fifth on the Rimouski club in goals and third on the team in PIM, totaling 19 goals and 21 assists for 40 points, along with 92 penalty minutes, in 53 games.
Skokan also made his third consecutive appearance at the World Junior Championship for Slovakia in 2008, and tallied two goals and six assists for eight points in six games. That represented the second-best point total on the Slovakian team and was tied for fourth overall in the tournament.
In 158 career QMJHL games, Skokan registered 39 goals and 57 assists for 96 points, in addition to 297 minutes in penalties.
