Huntsville, AL - Huntsville Havoc Head Coach, Eric Soltys, announced today that the team has hired Paul Snell as an assistant coach and re-signed forward Travis Kauffeldt to a try-out agreement.
“I helped Paul get his first job,” Soltys said. “He has a passion for recruiting and a tremendous knowledge of the game. He understands what I mean when I talk about finding the right player, maybe not the best quality player, but the one that is going to fit in with our team-first concept.”
Snell served as the assistant coach at Salem State College the past two seasons. He played at Salem State from 2002-2006 and scored 22 goals and recorded 28 assists for the Vikings. He helped the team to the ECAC East Playoffs each season. The Pine Falls, Manitoba native also played in two professional games in the UHL with the Port Huron Flags.
“I am very excited to work with Eric,” Snell said. “He is committed to winning and I want to be a part of bringing this hockey club back to where it should be. I see myself as a players' coach, one that can relate to them. This is a developmental league so I want to help them progress as a player and move on. I know how important winning is to this city and I want to help bring a championship here.”
Kauffeldt (6-2, 200) has played in 94 games for the Havoc over the past two seasons and scored 34 goals and recorded 65 assists. He has 262 penalty minutes. He had 45 points in only 42 games last season.
