Huntsville, AL - Huntsville Havoc Head Coach, Eric Soltys, announced today that the team has signed former New Mexico Scorpion forward Ray Ortiz.
Ortiz
(5-11, 190) played in 64 games for New Mexico last season and scored
nine goals and recorded 14 assists. He played at Northeastern
University from 2003-2007 and scored 18 goals and recorded 24 assists
in 128 games.
"Ray will be an example to our team even as
a second year pro," Soltys said. "He has played for me before and knows
and accepts the challenge of the 100% effort that I demand. He is hard
working and plays with intensity, heart, grit and passion. He has soft
hands and a knack for the net so we are very excited to watch his
day-to-day performance."
Ortiz was also a member of the
United States Junior National Team in 2001-02 where he recorded five
assists in eight games. In 2001-2002 he was a member of the United
States National Under-18 Team where he scored three goals and recorded
four assists in eight games.
