Huntsville, AL - Huntsville Havoc Head Coach, Eric Soltys, announced today that the team has signed former UAH center, Keith Rowe.
Rowe (5-11, 190) played in 130 games at UAH from 2001-2005. He scored 20 goals and recorded 26 assists to go along with 196 penalty minutes. He was teammates with Havoc forward Craig Bushey and newly signed defenseman, Jeff Winchester.
"I enjoyed playing in Amarillo, but I love Huntsville and I'm going to make it my home," Rowe said. "After talking with Coach Soltys, I like the direction he is taking this team. I also feel that I can trust him as a coach and that is very important to me. Plus, I get to the chance to play with Bushey and Winchester again."
He joined the Amarillo Gorillas of the CHL after the UAH finished the 2005 season and played in seven playoffs games, scoring one goal and recording five assists. He returned to Amarillo and played in 187 games from 2005-2008, scoring 28 goals, recording 52 assists and had 318 penalty minutes. He served as the captain last season.
"Keith has been a captain in the CHL and that gives him a ton of experience as far as leadership goes," Soltys said. "He will be able to help our young kids on and off the ice, even the veterans will look up to him because of his work ethic. I'm excited because he's one of those players that you love to have on your team, but you hate to play against."
The Livonia, Michigan native also played in 107 junior games in the NAHL and scored 24 goals and recorded 57 assists. He will graduate this summer from UAH with a degree in Marketing.
