Johnstown, PA - The Johnstown Chiefs, the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Colorado Avalanche and Boston Bruins and the American Hockey League's Lake Erie Monsters and Providence Bruins, announced its first player signings for the 2008-09 season. The three forwards returning are second year skater, Joey Olson, and rookies Joel Gasper and Domenic Maini.
Joey Olson, from Robert Morris University, will be returning for his second year with the Chiefs. Olson was an offensive threat last year, scoring a hat trick against the Elmira Jackals on February 8th. Olson played in 39 games last season, scored 15 goals, and had 44 assists. These totaled to 68 points for the 2007-08 regular season.
Joel Gasper, another skater from Robert Morris University, will be a rookie this year. In his first career game he had an assist against Cincinnati on March 17th. Gasper played in 9 games last season, 2 assists, and totaled 2 points for the regular season.
Domenic Maini, a skater from Ohio State University, will be another rookie looking to do great things with the Chiefs this season. Maini, in his first career game against Reading on April 2nd, had his first assist. Maini played in 3 games, had 2 assists, which totaled for 2 points last season.
