Knoxville, TN - The Knoxville Ice Bears
organization announced today that Jason Lepine has signed a contract to
continue his career with the Knoxville Ice Bears.
The 5'11",
185-pound Defensemen started his career with the Cornwall Colts of the
CJAHL in 2003. During 3 seasons with the Colts, Lepine played 160
games, scored 58 goals and had 96 assists.
Lepine was then recruited by Corpus Christi Rayz of the Central Hockey League (CHL). He played just over a season for the Rayz. In 46 games he had 5 goals and 11 assists.
Even
though he suffered from an injury early in the season, he still played
24 regular-season for the Knoxville Ice Bears. Lepine added 3 goals and
11 assists to the Ice Bears stats.
"All I can say is
that we are excited! We fully expected Jason to be moving on but we are
sure glad he is not! Jason was a key performer for us down the stretch
and into playoffs. He had 1 goal and 5 assists in the playoffs good for
12th in the entire league. He is extremely gifted and we expect him to
be a real handful for the opposition. 'Jay' is a great skater and has
the ability to feather passes to the open man in all areas of the ice.
Combined with Kevin Harris I believe we have two legitimate, proven AA
defensemen signed for next season," Coach Hillman commented.
