Muskegon, MI - The Muskegon Fury today announce the signing of coach Bruce Ramsay to a contract extension.

Ramsay has coached the Fury the last two seasons, compiling a record of 84-56-4-8 overall in the regular season and a 10-7 mark in the playoffs. His 84 wins and 152 games coached are third-most in franchise history, trailing only Todd Nelson and Rich Kromm. "Bruce is a solid leader who is very capable of leading this team," Fury General Manager Tim Taylor said. "He knows the goal for this team for the upcoming season is a Turner Cup Championship, and I'm confident he can lead this team to that goal. When it came down to it, we wanted him back and he wanted to be back." Ramsay took over as the team's ninth head coach before the 2006-07season after being an assistant coach for two years, including the 2004-05 Colonial Cup Championship team. He was also a player for the Fury during the team's run to the championship in 2002. Before joining the Fury coaching staff, Ramsay was a head coach for the Port Huron Beacons from 2002-04 and a head coach for the ACHL's St. Pete/Winston-Salem Parrots to begin the 2002-03 season.

"This is a happy day for me and my family," Ramsay said. "I've learned a lot over the last two years here in Muskegon. I'm excited to be able to work with Tim (Taylor) and put together a championship-caliber team. It's going to be a year to remember here in Muskegon." Ramsay played professionally for 12 seasons, including six years in Thunder Bay, Ont. and three with the Grand Rapids Griffins. Known for his physical play, Ramsay retired as the United Hockey League's all-time leader in penalty minutes. His career head coaching record is 154-105-7-22.

Ramsay and his wife, Jennifer, reside in West Michigan with their two children, Natalie and Reid. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
