Muskegon, MI - The Muskegon Fury will bring back a pair of mainstays as the team announces the re-singing of forwards Billy Collins and Bill Zalba for the 2008-09 season.

"We're happy to have both of these players back in Muskegon," Fury General Manager Tim Taylor said. "Both of these guys knows what it takes to win. Collins really stood out last year with his increase in offensive production, and Zalba is one of the most versatile players we have. I know both of these guys from my previous time here, and they're great guys both on and off the ice."

Collins, 26, finished the 2007-08 season with a team-high and career-high 36 goals and 71 points while being named the team's MVP. His 35 assists were also a career-high last season. Collins (6-2, 200 lbs.) has spent his entire five-year career with the Fury, totaling 163 points (82g, 81a) in 272 games, plus 31 points (20g, 11a) in 45 playoff games.

"Billy Collins had a tremendous season last year," Fury coach Bruce Ramsay said. "He stepped up to the plate and provided a lot of quality minutes. I'm very excited to have him back. He brings may good qualities to our team, and with our current signings makes us even stronger."

Zalba, 25, returns for his fifth season with the Fury. The 6-foot, 204-pound forward posted a career-high with 10 goals last season in 60 games, plus one assist in six playoff games. Zalba joined the Fury midway through the 2004-05 season and has remained in Muskegon ever since. In 248 career games, Zalba has 91 points (36g, 55a) and 441 penalty minutes plus eight points (2g, 6a) in 29 career playoff games. "He's a great utility player," Ramsay said. "He's got experience to play all positions, does a good job on the penalty kill and plays with an edge."

Terms of both players' contracts were not released.
