Muskegon, MI - The Muskegon Fury today announce the signing of center Todd Robinson for the 2008-09 season.

Robinson is second all-time in Fury history with 178 goals, 435 assists and 613 points through seven seasons with the club. He played last season for Soenderjyske in Denmark, scoring 64 points (21g, 43a) in 45 games.

“Bringing Todd Robinson back to Muskegon was a top priority for this organization,” new Fury General Manager Tim Taylor said. “Todd's vision and playmaking ability make him one of the best players in all of minor professional hockey. He is very competitive and knows what it takes to win.”

Robinson is best known for his overtime Colonial Cup-clinching goal in Game 6 of the 2002 Colonial Cup Finals. That same postseason, he was named the Colonial Cup Playoff's Most Valuable Player. Robinson was also a part of the Fury's back-to-back championships in 2004 and 2005, and holds the team record by scoring 123 points in the 2006-07 season. That season, he was also named the United Hockey League's Most Valuable Player for the regular season.

“I'm happy to be back in a place I can call home,” Robinson said. “I love the direction that Tim Taylor has the team going, and can't wait to get back on the ice in front of the Muskegon fans.”

In his nine-year career, Robinson has played in 602 games, scoring 238 goals and adding 576 assists. He has also played in 92 playoff games, recording 25 goals and 84 assists.

“This is the first step in building a championship-caliber team for the upcoming season.” Taylor added. “We've laid a great foundation with the signing of Todd, and we'll continue the building process in the upcoming weeks.”

Robinson is the second player under contract with the Fury for the 2008-09 season, joining defenseman Kyle Kos. Terms of Robinson's contract will not be released.
