Muskegon, MI - The Muskegon Fury today announce the signing of forward Chad Woollard for the 2008-09 season.
Woollard, 28, spent last season with the Mississippi River Kings of the Central Hockey League, where he was second on the team with 68 points (37g, 31a) in 60 games.
"Chad fits in with the type of player we're looking for - big, skilled and with a mean streak," Fury General Manager Tim Taylor said. "I know him from our time together in Quad City, and he fits in exactly with what we're looking to do here in Muskegon."
Woollard (6-foot-3, 210 lbs.) is a nine-year veteran who has played in the ECHL, the CHL, the WPHL, the UHL and has made three stops in the AHL, most recently in 2006-07 with the San Antonio Rampage. He has played in 535 games, scoring 505 points (255g, 250a) while amassing 1,035 penalty minutes.
"Chad is a tremendous player given his size and his scoring ability," Fury coach Bruce Ramsay added. "He's going to give opponents nightmares."
In Quad City, Woollard enjoyed his two finest seasons as a professional, setting a career-high in goals (44) in 2005-06, then setting career-highs in both assists (47) and points (82) the next season. Woollard also has performed excellent in the playoffs, with 23 points (15g, 8a) in just 19 games played.
After a four-year junior career in the OHL, Woollard debuted with the Jackson Bandits of the ECHL, where he recorded seven points (3g, 4a) in 17 games. Two season later, with the Fort Worth Brahmas of the CHL, he notched a career-high 188 penalty minutes.
