Bedard Named Rookie Of The Month For January

Port Huron, MI - Port Huron Icehawks left wing Mickael Bedard was named International Hockey League Rookie of the Month for January, the league announced today.

Bedard takes home honors for the second consecutive month and the second time this week. He was also named Rookie of the Week for the week ending Sunday, January 31. The forward, who was Rookie of the Month in December, has won IHL honors a total of six times this season.

Bedard completed his third full month of his rookie campaign with the Icehawks scoring 11 goals and dishing out eight assists for 19 points in 14 games played. He wrapped up the month with a stellar plus-15 rating, which boosted his league-leading plus/minus rating to plus-27. He scored his 19 points in nine of the 14 games played, with five of those nine being multi-point games. He recorded his second hat trick of the season on January 2nd in Port Huron's 7-2 win over Muskegon, where he produced a total of five points (3 goals, 2 assists).

The 22-year-old Montreal, Quebec native currently leads all rookies in goals (26), assists (23), power play goals (9), shooting percentage (.205), plus/minus (plus-27) and is tied for first in power play assists (8) and game-winning goals (7).
