Hidalgo, TX - The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees of the Central Hockey League (CHL) today announced that Paul Fixter, who has served as the team's Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations for the last two seasons, has resigned. Fixter is taking a job with the Kitchener Rangers of the Ontario Hockey League and will serve as Associate Coach and Assistant General Manager.
"Paul has the unique opportunity to take a position in his hometown with the defending OHL champions," said Killer Bees Owner/President Troy Nelson. "The OHL is one of the top three major junior leagues and we are truly pleased for him."
In two seasons with the Bees, Fixter guided the team to a 44-69-15 and a first round playoff loss to Laredo in 2007.
"Our next step is selecting Paul's successor," explained Nelson. "We already have a short list of names and have been in contact with several candidates. Paul will assist with the transition in the coming weeks so the new coach can pick up where he left off as far as recruiting goes. We're ahead of the game in that regard. Our roster is taking shape and we will have player announcements coming soon."
