Broomfield, CO - The Rocky Mountain Rage have re-signed left winger Colt King. He becomes the third player under contract for the upcoming 2008-09 Central Hockey League season, joining defenseman Tyler Butler and centerman David Morelli.
King registered 37 points (14g-23a) in 51 games for the Rage last season. He heads into his fifth year as a pro having racked up at least 100 penalty minutes during each of his first four seasons. Last year the 6-foot-2, 220 lb. power forward accumulated nine fighting majors on his way to 110 minutes in penalties.
"Colt King is an important player to have back in our line-up," said Rage Head Coach and General Manager Tracy Egeland. "He is fully capable of being a dominant player at this level. He's a great skater, has good hands, and is as tough as they come. I think Kinger' is ready to have an outstanding season for us."
King was a fourth-round draft choice of the Colorado Avalanche in 2001 and has attended NHL training camps with Colorado, Vancouver, and Minnesota. Twice he has posted 20-goal, 200-penalty minute campaigns, and in 2006-07 he was named an All-Star for the United Hockey League's Port Huron Flags.
