N. Richland Hills, TX - The Texas Brahmas of the Central Hockey League (CHL) fixed their need for speed as they announced the signing of center Pete Rouleau for the 2008-09 campaign.
Rouleau, 25, spent last season in the NCAA with Michigan Tech before seeing action in the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) for seven games with the Idaho Steelheads and Pensacola Ice Pilots. In the short time he spent in the ECHL, the Hancock, MI native made an impact scoring 3 points (1 G, 2 A) in seven games.
The speedy forward, found great success in his time at Michigan Tech as he tallied 61 points (19 G, 42 A) in 95 games played. Rouleau earned the Gary Crosby Award as the team's leading scorer his junior and senior year and won the Huskies' MVP award last season.
Brahmas Head Coach Dan Wildfong is proud of his new acquisition and believes Rouleau will bring great energy to the team. Wildfong was made aware of Rouleau from the center's former Michigan Tech teammate, Tyler Skworchinski (Brahmas star rookie last season).
"It's always good when you can bring in a young player who has proven to be a playmaker. Pete had some great numbers in college and we have the same expectations now that he is a Brahma," said Wildfong.
Prior to his years with Michigan Tech, Rouleau played two seasons (2001-02 and 2002-03) of Junior Hockey in the North American Hockey League (NAHL) and United States Hockey League (USHL) and one year with Finlandia University (2003-04), a NCAA Division III school.
