N. Richland Hills, TX - When the need for an enforcer
becomes present, the Brahmas will have their "Mann", as they have
announced the re-signing of defenseman Chris Mann for the 2008-09
Central Hockey League (CHL) season.
Mann, 29, returns to the Brahmas blue line after helping the team
advance to the Northern Conference Finals last season, his first year
in the CHL. As a Brahma, Mann saw action in 69 total games, nine in the
postseason.
Known
for his aggressive style of play, the Ottawa, Ontario native posted 168
penalty minutes last season, ranking him second among the Brahmas
roster.
The four year veteran spent the majority of his
professional career in the United Hockey League (UHL, now the
International Hockey League). In three seasons in the UHL, Mann played
137 games and netted 21 points (4 G, 17 A).
For the 2005-06
season, Mann played for the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey
League (AHL) for one game. The hard-nosed defenseman played four
seasons of collegiate hockey at Elmira College (NCAA). As an Eagle,
Mann put up 58 points (13 G, 45 A) in 96 games.
Head coach Dan Wildfong believes the addition of Mann is a step in the right direction for the Brahmas 2008-09 campaign.
"Chris
did some great things for us last season. This season we wanted to be
sure to solidify the blueline, so it's great to keep a stable
defenseman familiar with our system," said Wildfong.
