Tulsa, OK - The Tulsa Oilers have signed six-foot-five, 218 pound defenseman Ben Chaisson for the 2008-09 Central Hockey League season.
Chaisson, 21, will be entering his first professional season. His junior hockey career has included playing in the Maritime Junior A Hockey League and the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. He also has international hockey experience, playing for Team Canada-Atlantic at the under 17 World championships in 2003.
"You can't coach size," Oilers head coach Dan Hodge said with a laugh. "But along with his size, Ben has a lot of great experience for a 21 year old, and he should bring us a lot of poise for a rookie. I'm tired of being pushed around in our end. We will be bigger and stronger next season. Ben is a good start in that direction."
