Salmon Kings Re-Sign Wes Goldie

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, announced today that the organization has re-signed right winger Wes Goldie.

The 2008-09 season will be the 29-year-olds third with the Salmon Kings. Goldie came to the Salmon Kings after playing seven professional seasons in the ECHL, AHL and LNAH.

The London, ON native played in all 72 games for the Salmon Kings last season accruing an ECHL leading 42 goals. He also chipped in with 19 assists for 61 points. In 11 playoff contests he tallied 13 points (5g-8a) to lead the Salmon Kings.

"Wes is an elite player in this league and we are very excited to have him back for another season," General Manager and Head Coach Mark Morrison said. "He is a proven goal scorer that leads by example."

In his two seasons with the Salmon Kings the 6-1, 210lb Goldie has played in all of the Salmon Kings 144 games as well as the teams 17 playoff games. During that span he has become the Salmon Kings' all-time leader in goals with 83, and the team's second all-time leading point getter with 135 (83g-52a).

Goldie also tops the Salmon Kings' all-time lists in power play goals (26), shorthanded markers (13) as well as game winning goals (12).

The right winger has also shone in the playoffs leading the team's all-time list in games played (17), goals (11), points (21), power play goals (3), game winning goals (3) and is also tied for the organization's top spot in assists (10).

Goldie helped propel the Salmon Kings to the team's first ever West Division regular season title and also a playoff run that ended in the second round. In the team's final 28 games (17 regular season and 11 playoff games) Goldie amassed 22 goals and 14 assists for 36 points. Over that span he collected five first goals, three shorthanded markers, two game winning goals, three shorthanded assists, two power play assists and a single overtime assist.

For his professional career he has played in 524 games collecting 294 goals and 194 assists over nine seasons. He has also played in 47 playoff games recording 26 goals and 17 assists.

Goldie played parts of five seasons in the OHL with the Owen Sound Platers and the London Knights. He played in 261 games scoring 131 goals and notching 118 assists. In 28 OHL playoff games he scored 15 goals and counted six assists.
