Wilkes-Barre, PA - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins have signed forward Bryan Ewing and Defensemen Elgin Reid and Brock Sheahan to American Hockey League contracts, it was announced on Thursday.
Ewing,
22, led Boston University (Hockey East) with 26 assists last season,
while ranking second on the club with 17 goals and 43 points. He was
named to the Hockey East First Team, and was the runner-up for the
CCM/RBK Hockey East Player of the Year award.
The 5-10,
160 pound native of Plymouth, MA, finished his collegiate career with
108 points (48+60) in 143 games with the Terriers.
Reid,
21, finished seventh on the Windsor Spitfires (OHL) last season with 42
points, and placed fifth on the team with 34 assists. He was signed by
Elmira (ECHL) following completion of his junior season, and recorded
five points (3+2) in five regular season games with the Jackals.
The
6-0, 180 pound native of Milton, ON, combined for 110 points (28+82) in
265 games with Windsor, Owen Sound and Ottawa during his five-year
junior career.
Sheahan, 24, set career highs in assists (12) and points (13) with Notre Dame
last season, while leading the Fighting Irish with a plus-21 rating and
67 penalty minutes. He was selected to the NCAA West Regional
all-tournament team as the Irish advanced to the school's first Frozen
Four appearance, and was named the 2008 William Donald Nyrop Defensive
Player of the Year by the school.
The 5-11, 165 pound
native of Lethbridge, AB, ranks second on the school's all-time games
played list at 161, and recorded 33 points (4+29) and 220 penalty
minutes in his four years in South Bend.
