Wheeling, WV - The Wheeling Nailers, the 'AA' affiliate of the Pittsburgh, have signed defensemen Jeremy Scherlinck, it was announced today by team President Jim Brooks. As per club policy, no further terms were disclosed.

"We look for Jeremy to build off a fine rookie season. He will be a large contributor for the Nailers in all defensive areas." Said Greg Puhalski.

Scherlinck, 25, joins the Nailers after a successful rookie campaign with the Idaho Steelheads in 2007-08. A native of Grosse Pointe, MI, he recorded 14 points (1 goal, 13 assists) and 38 penalty minutes in 62 games for the Steelheads. The 6-3, 210 pound defensemen also spent two games in the American Hockey League with the Iowa Stars.

In four seasons at Ferris State University, Jeremy scored 44 points (6 goals, 38 assists) and posted 105 penalty minutes. He missed the entire 2004-05 season with an injury. A stay-at-home defenseman, Scherlinck was a leader for the Bulldogs and was named the team's assistant captain before his senior season.
