Any of you Antz fans with any inside contacts can verify this story cause I am quite sure many of you are going to not believe it but here is the truth. The Havoc asked for their "future considerations" from the Olaussen trade from last year. The Antz had to provide 3 players for the Havoc to choose from. The three players that were submitted were inexcusable in the fact the names submitted were all guys that were traded from Huntsville originally (you figure the 2 yourself) and Tuomi. The Antz knew Tuomi was heading to Finland so the Havoc screamed foul. The commissioner got involved and told the Antz to submit 3 other names. He gave the Antz a deadline and told the Antz if the names weren't submitted by the dealine he set the Havoc could choose any player off their roster. Well, the Antz never responded and the deadline passed so they got a free pick. They chose Genovy luckily for you Antz fans because they could have took Sich. I was told the only reason they didn't take Sich was because they didn't have room under their cap to sign him. Stewart and McNaught made a major blunder. I personally think they should have taken Geerlinks but that's just me. Then again, may have been a cap issue with him too.

This will sure cause an uproar in Ant land. One could only wonder what would of happened if Sich would of gotten taken. The fans would of gone nuts.

Vol, if that is true, which I actually believe you, the Antz are the ones that got screwed. No one knew Tuomi was going to Finland until after the trade was announced. Tuomi got ticked off by being traded in such a "low" league. The Havoc, by picking Tuomi should have been stuck with him. The Antz took a chance on Olaussen not sticking in the CHL, and the Havoc took a chance when they selected Tuomi. I know that the Antz did not know of his decision until he was traded. But the best way to get back at the Antz would have been to say he told them he was leaving.
I bet that is why the Antz did not submitt new names to Huntsville. The league really wants Huntsville to win a championship this year, and you will see more favorable rulings as the season goes on, if needed. I called this before the season even started. Fayetteville, Columbus, and Knoxville have all won, and Huntsville had a horrible season last year. Their attendace numbers stayed okay, but the league needs Huntsville and Richmond both to make the playoffs, or win a championship to stabilize the league. Yes, the game is won on the ice, but there are many things that can be manipulated to help these teams. It is so predictable, if you just watch you will see what I am talking about...

If it would have been a player the Antz could not do without, the Antz would have played hard ball with the league and the ruling would have been different. The league is not going to shoot itself in the foot while they are trying to get established. If there were 10 or more teams they may not care, but with only 6 it would never happen.

The Antz have a player in town that played in the CHL last year. He should be a good player to replace Genovy and should be a little better at scoring. Only question will be his hockey shape. I guess we will see next weekend. Sorry but I will not post his name until the team releases the information.
