If the AHL board turns down Calgary's move to Abbotsford, can they go back to the ECHL plan? Seems like they may have alienated fans to the ECHL for no reason.

They can.....although they might not have an "ECHL plan". According to the Abbotsford paper, they have no Plan B....

Commen sense is that they shot for the sky. If it fails then they will try the ECHL route the following season. Nothing lost for them for gambling.

Well, then they'd just be emulating the parent club with respect to having an AHL location for 2009-10.

I believe, though, that the ECHL has to know who's in by April, and since the AHL vote still isn't scheduled, Abbotsford may be totally dark next season if the AHL fails and they miss the ECHL deadline.
