Well it looks like it is a done deal. Dayton will be in the IHL next season. There should be an announcement made shortly (early next week). They will obviousely play at the Hara Arena.

I already did. (Several Komets fans can vouch.)

Last week came and went, and now the "early" part of this week is about gone.
Has the announcement been delayed?

Well, seeing as how it wasn't announced when we all were expecting it, I would guess the answer to that is a YES.

Dayton is starting to sound more like last year's Chicago Hounds.
We all heard how anonymous sources claimed it was a done deal and that an announcement was coming soon, but then things kept getting delayed for one mysterious reason after another.

Agreed...but hopefully it's for the sake of making sure the "i's" are dotted and "t's" are crossed... (So that another "Chicago" doesn't happen)
I've noticed that the media references to all of this are getting more vauge and more "closed" instead of very open and telling. To me this appears to agree with my theroy above...

There's been an interesting series of events unfolding on the daytongems.com website.
Sports Retro owns the name domain and had to change some of the content on that site. For a brief time, there was a statement indicating that the Dayton Gems would be playing in the IHL next season.
That claim was taken down and replaced with:
Stay tuned for any updates regarding the Dayton Gems. If and when any information is
available it will be posted here. We apologize for any misunderstandings. We, too, hope the Gems
will join the new IHL and we'll certainly be in full support of them if they do.
Words like "hope" and "if" indicate a considerable level of uncertainty.

I'm still not buying the websites (.com or .net). I'll wait for the actual announcement.

I think it's more likely that someone within the league told these folks to keep their mouths shut until they are formally approved by the league.
Folks, the league meeting isn't until mid-June. You're probably not going to hear anything until then.

That's the way it usually happens. Can't announce player signings until the league approves it.

Yup, it was delayed. Big deal? I don't think so. It is still going to happen; Dayton is still going to play in the IHL this season. I now would not be surprised if nothing is announced on any new teams until league meetings or until a new commissioner is announced.

Why are you still here when you don't have a team anymore? All you're doing is starting stuff on here and the IHL board.
